Marvin Gatewood – US Navy – Stationed at Norfork, VA on the USS Wright, a Presidential Hideaway and support ship. It had the first around-the-world satellite communication system. The ship provided security for President Lyndon Johnson when he attended a summit in Rio de Jenario. The USS Wright patrolled the Atlantic seaboard from Maine to Rio. Marvin enlisted in November of 1966 and while he was never “in country,” he served his country during the Vietnam War, being discharged in 1972.
